“Honestly, no one paid attention to us, and as Muhamasheen we did not have the resources to improve our lives until Raeduun intervened.”
We work tirelessly across Yemen, reaching remote areas and marginalized communities with programs that focus on improving literacy rates, promoting gender equality in education, and fostering skills development for sustainable livelihoods.
Mahboub is in his 40s and experienced a partial paralysis that left him bedridden. He belongs to an ethnic group in Yemen known as the Muhamasheen that has faced social, economic, cultural, and political exclusion for centuries. Mahboub lives on the outskirts of a village in the Al Silw district of Taiz province, where political violence continues to occur sporadically. His home is a basic structure that he shares with his son, daughter-in-law, and six grandchildren as they dwell together on a piece of land donated by a local philanthropist.
In many conflict-affected Yemeni communities, the journey towards sustainable development starts with a food basket, like the one delivered to Mahboub’s family…
RSD has over 130 professional team members equipped with the expertise to respond to emergencies across Yemen. The team is supported by a network of more than 200 local volunteers. These women and men are well-trained and well-placed to scale up RSD operations across Yemen’s 22 governorates based on programming needs and opportunities.

Climate change poses a worldwide challenge, with its impacts being felt more severely in vulnerable nations like Yemen. According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Yemen ranks third globally among the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change—yet it is one of the least prepared for increasing climate shocks. For Yemeni families, the impact of the developing environmental crisis can be a daily, existential struggle. Water is becoming more scarce, and crops are failing—threatening a way of life that millions of Yemenis depend on. The most vulnerable of these Yemenis do not have the skills or access to job markets to seek new livelihoods. Furthermore, UNFPA research shows that climate disasters have a disproportionate impact on women, girls, and newborns—including hypertensive disorders, preterm and low-weight births, and stillbirths. Your partnership with RSD will help Yemeni communities adapt to these realities and build a more resilient future in which they are equipped to contribute to better management of our planet’s resources for all. In particular, RSD’s Community Resilience Initiative is committed to providing sustainable water management solutions as a key part of addressing these challenges.
Uphold the right of the Yemeni people to equitable and accessible health and nutrition care so they can prosper physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Equip war-affected Yemeni girls, boys, women, and men living in multi-dimensional poverty with the resources to achieve a level of food security that increases their access to quality education and economic opportunity.
Protect the most vulnerable school-aged girls and boys from conflict- and crisis-related risks by ensuring they have access to safe and inclusive learning environments that promote well-being and resilience.
The strategic objectives of RSD's six active programs are listed below -- each is aimed at strengthening interdependent communities where everyone can prosper.
Yemeni communities
Enhance emergency preparedness and response capacity to strengthen interdependent Yemeni communities while laying a foundation for development that equips everyone to prosper.
Increase war-affected Yemenis’ access to safe, secure, and adequate living conditions by supporting the basic material needs of IDP families and their host communities.
Strengthen resourcefulness in Yemeni communities by increasing sustainable access to safe water and sanitation facilities and promoting hygiene practices to equip the most vulnerable Yemeni girls, boys, women, and men to protect themselves from health risks and allocate more time to education and economic opportunities.
