In 2023, the Al Wahda Health Center in Al Dhale’s Al Azariq district was about to close. Al Azariq is a conflict-affected district, where political violence continues to occur sporadically, and the center was running out of medical supplies and short on other equipment needed to keep treating patients. That’s when the RSD team contacted the center’s staff to let them know they had just received a shipment of in-kind medical aid from partners that could help them keep their doors open.
“We were distressed that we didn’t have the resources to care for everyone,” said a manager at the center when RSD delivered the donated items. “Today, we are overjoyed to receive a hospital bed, linens, and other medical supplies from RSD and their partners. We are now equipped to resume our work and provide our patients with the health services that are essential to their well-being. This aid not only means that we can meet the patients’ needs today, but it also gives them hope that the health care services in our community will continue to improve.”
